واشنطن – أظهر استطلاع نشر الأسبوع الماضي أن معظم الأميركيين لديهم رأي إيجابي في وزيرة الخارجية الأميركية السابقة هيلاري كلينتون ويعتقدون أنها ستفوز في انتخابات الرئاسة 2016.
وأشار استطلاع لـ«رويترز-إبسوس» أجري عبر الانترنت إلى أن 57 بالمئة من الأميركيين لديهم رأي إيجابي مقارنة مع 43 بالمئة عبّروا عن رأي سلبي.
وقال حوالي ربع الجمهوريين الذي شملهم الاستطلاع إن لديهم رأياً إيجابياً في كلينتون التي تنتمي للحزب الديمقراطي.
وفي حين لم تعلن كلينتون حتى الآن الترشح لانتخابات الرئاسة إلا ان كثيرين من المراقبين يرون أنها ستكون المرشح الأوفر حظاً إذا قررت خوض الانتخابات.
وقال أكثر من نصف من شملهم الاستطلاع إن كلينتون «ستفوز على الأغلب» في انتخابات الرئاسة، وقال أكثر من نصف الديمقراطيين والمستقلين انهم سيدلون بأصواتهم لها في الانتخابات التمهيدية للحزب مقارنة مع 10 بالمئة فقط قالوا إنهم سيعطون اصواتهم لنائب الرئيس جو بايدن.
وتعرض سجل كلينتون للسياسة الخارجية لانتقادات في الأسابيع القليلة الماضية بعد تشكيل لجنة في مجلس النواب الأميركي للتحقيق في الهجمات التي وقعت في 2012 في مدينة بنغازي الليبية والتي قتل فيها سفير الولايات المتحدة وثلاثة أميركيين اخرين.
ودافعت كلينتون عن أدائها كوزيرة للخارجية على مدى السنوات الأربع لفترة الرئاسة الأولى للرئيس باراك أوباما. وقلل زوجها الرئيس الأسبق بيل كلينتون من شأن تساؤلات فيما يتعلق بصحة سيدة أميركا الأولى السابقة التي تبلغ من العمر 66 عاماً. وتقول كلينتون إنها لن تتخذ قراراً بشأن الترشح للرئاسة قبل انتخابات التجديد النصفي للكونغرس التي ستجرى في تشرين الثاني (نوفمبر) القادم. ويعتبر 56 بالمئة من الأميركيين كلينتون زعيمة مؤثرة، وقال 62 بالمئة انها تعرف كيف تتواصل مع الناخبين.
وبعد أكثر من 20 عاماً من العمل العام تتمتع كلينتون أيضاً بمستويات مرتفعة جداً من الشهرة، وقال 96 بالمئة من جميع الاشخاص الذين شملهم الاستطلاع انهم يعرفونها.
وشمل الاستطلاع الذي أجرته «إبسوس» 1518 من الأميركيين البالغين في الفترة من 11 إلى 15 أيار (مايو).
