روتشستر – بين مسح حديث أن غالبية الأميركيين يعتبرون أنفسهم بحاجة لفقدان بعض الوزن، وأن أكثر من الثلث يجري تغييرات في أنماط الغذاء والحركة لتكون أكثر صحية، وذلك وفقا لإجابات العينة المشاركة.
وأجرى المسح، مركز هاريس إنتراكتيف في مدينة روتشستر بولاية نيويورك، وشمل 1800 أميركي تتراوح أعمارهم بين 25 و64 عاما. وقال سبعة من كل عشرة مشاركين بالاستطلاع إنهم بحاجة لخسارة عدد كبير من الكيلوغرامات. وأكد 47 بالمئة من المشاركين أنهم باتوا يختارون السَلطة بدلاً من البطاطا المقلية، بينما قال 37 بالمئة إنهم يقللون من شرب الخمور، أما لدى سؤالهم حول النشاط الحركي فقال 34 بالمئة إنهم يقومون بالمزيد من التمارين الرياضية لجعل حياتهم صحية أكثر.
أما على الصعيد النفسي وتحديدا السعادة، فقد اعتبر ثلث المستطلعين بأنهم أكثر سعادة الآن عما كانوا عليه قبل خمس سنوات. أما حول الإجهاد فقد أجابت الغالبية أنها تشعر بالإجهاد بسبب مكان العمل، يليه العائلة ومن ثم الزوج.
وكان لافتا أن المسح أظهر أن وجود هر أو كلب في المنزل يخفف من حدة الإجهاد.
