غزة – قال الرئيس الأميركي الأسبق جيمي كارتر، الذي زار قطاع غزة، الثلاثاء الماضي، إن الوضع في القطاع مأساوي، وإنه ”قاوم رغبة في البكاء”، بعد أن رأى حجم الدمار الذي خلفه العدوان الإسرائيلي الأخير. وقال كارتر خلال زيارته ان الفلسطينيين في قطاع غزة ”يعاملون كالحيوانات اكثر مما يعاملون كبشر”. وقال لاهالي غزة في مكتب محلي تابع للامم المتحدة ”فهمت انه حتى الاوراق والالوان تعامل كخطر امني. وطلبت تفسيرا لذلك عندما التقيت بمسؤولين اسرائيليين ولم احصل على شيء منهم لانه لا يوجد تفسير لذلك”.
واختتم كارتر جولته في المنطقة، بزيارة إلى المدرسة الأميركية في غزة، والتي دمرت بالكامل في غارة للطائرات الإسرائيلية. وقال في مؤتمر صحفي ”أشعر بحزن عميق، وأشعر برغبة في البكاء عندما أرى هذا التدمير المتعمد لغزة، وخصوصا هذه المدرسة التي تقدم لأبنائكم العلم والتي أسستها بلادي”. وتابع كارتر يقول ”أراها (المدرسة) دمرت بقذائف أطلقتها طائرات ”أف-١٦” التي صنعت في بلادي وقدمت إلى إسرائيل.. إنني أشعر بأنني مسؤول بشكل جزئي عما حصل هنا.. وأظن أن كل الأميركيين والإسرائيليين يشعرون بذلك”. ومضى يقول ”الطريقة الوحيدة لتجنب حدوث مثل هذه المأساة مرة أخرى هي الحصول على سلام حقيقي”، مشيرا إلى أن العديد من الفلسطينيين يقاتلون بعضهم الآن في الضفة الغربية والقطاع، بسبب الخلاف بين ”حماس” و”فتح”. وأضاف ”من المهم جدا أن يتصالح الفلسطينيون مع بعضهم، وأن يتعاونوا ويوقفوا مهاجمة بعضهم، ويشرعوا في التحضير لانتخابات آمل أن أكون مراقبا فيها”.
