ألن تاون - رحب رئيس بلدية مدينة ألن تاون بولاية بنسلفانيا الأميركية بقدوم اللاجئين السوريين إليها، رغم رفض أكثر من نصف حكام الولايات توطينهم فـي ولاياتهم عقب هجمات باريس الإرهابية.
وأكد أد بولوسكي رئيس بلدية ألن تاون، التي تضم كثافة سكانية عربية، مساندته لهؤلاء اللاجئين ودعا الأهالي الراغبين فـي المساعدة إلى التبرع بالطعام والملابس والأموال وتقديم يد العون. وأضاف أن هؤلاء الأشخاص جاؤوا إلى الولايات المتحدة «لأن كل شيء فـي بلدهم تم تدميره: بيوتهم وأسرهم ولقمة عيشهم وممتلكاتهم».
وتابع قائلاً «تقع على عاتقنا المسؤولية الكاملة لأننا بلد يتمتع بالثروات ولا يجب أن يتحكم الخوف بسياساتنا الخارجية ولن نسمح أن يقود الرعب».
وقد اعترض أكثر من نصف حكام الولايات ومعظم المرشحين الجمهوريين للرئاسة الأميركية على استقبال لاجئين سوريين بعد اعتداءات باريس.
لكن إدارة الرئيس أوباما دفعت عبر حساباتها فـي مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي المخاوف من استقبال اللاجئين فـي الولايات المتحدة بشدة مستخدمة الهاشتاغ #RefugeesWelcome، ونشرت صور مؤسس «غوغل» المشارك سيرغي برين ووزيرة الخارجية الأميركية السابقة مادلين أولبرايت كأمثلة للاجئين استقبلتهم الولايات المتحدة. واعتبر أوباما الدعوة لإجراء اختبارات دينية على طالبي اللجوء والموافقة على استقبال المسيحيين فقط «أمراً مهيناً».
وتضم مدينة ألن بارك، وهي ثالث أكبر مدن بنسلفانيا، ١١٨ ألف نسمة يشكل العرب الأميريكون، ولاسيما السوريون، نسبة معتبرة منهم، حيث تشير التقديرات الى أن الجالية السورية المتجذرة فـي المدينة تعد أكثر من 20 ألف نسمة وتتركز فـي الجزء الشرقي من المدينة التي تبعد عن ديترويت حوالي 550 ميلاً شرقاً.
