لانسنغ – سجل معدل البطالة في ميشيغن ارتفاعاً طفيفاً خلال شهر أيار (مايو) الماضي، إلى 4.2 بالمئة، في حين واصل عدد العمال العاطلين عن العمل صعوده للشهر الثالث على التوالي.
وتشير الأرقام الصادرة عن وزارة التكنولوجيا والإدارة والميزانية في ميشيغن، إلى أن معدل البطالة في الولاية كان 0.6 نقطة مئوية أعلى من معدل البطالة الوطني خلال مايو الماضي، والذي انخفض إلى 3.6 بالمئة على مستوى الولايات المتحدة بأكملها.
وفي حين لم يتغير إجمالي عدد العاملين في ميشيغن خلال شهر مايو، ارتفع عدد الأشخاص الباحثين عن وظائف بنحو خمسة آلاف شخص، ليصل إجمالي عددهم إلى 207 آلاف شخص، وهو الأعلى منذ نيسان (أبريل) 2018.
يشار إلى أن معدل البطالة في ميشيغن كان قد انخفض دون حاجز 4 بالمئة في أواخر عهد الحاكم السابق ريك سنايدر، بعد أن تجاوز 14 بالمئة قبل أقل من عشر سنوات، جراء الأزمة الاقتصادية التي عصفت بالبلاد عام 2008.
