واشنطن – كشفت دراسة أميركية أن نحو 30 ألف أجنبي انضموا للقتال إلى جانب التنظيمات المتشددة، سيما تنظيم «داعش»، مشيرة إلى أن من بينهم 250 أميركي على الأقل. وأوضحت الدراسة، التي أجراها مشرعون جمهوريون وديمقراطيون فـي لجنة الأمن الداخلي بمجلس النواب الأميركي، وكشف عنها الثلاثاء ٢٩ أيلول (سبتمبر) الماضي، أن هؤلاء الأشخاص تركوا بلادهم للانضمام إلى التنظيمات المسلحة التي تقاتل فـي سوريا والعراق، والتحق غالبيتهم بتنظيم «داعش» على وجه الخصوص.
فيما أعلن فريق العمل أن الولايات المتحدة تخسر معركتها لوقف الأميركيين من السفر للانضمام إلى «داعش» وجاء فـي الدراسة، التي استغرقت ستة أشهر، أن الحكومة الأميركية تفتقر إلى استراتيجية للتصدي لسفر هؤلاء الأشخاص، بحسب ما ذكرت وكالة «رويترز». وطالبت الدراسة بإجراءات تشمل تحسين مستوى تبادل المعلومات داخل الولايات المتحدة ودولياً. وقال التقرير إن عدة عشرات من المقاتلين عادوا إلى الولايات المتحدة، مضيفا «نشهد أكبر تجمع عالمي للجهاديين فـي التاريخ».
وخلصت الدراسة إلى أن السلطات عجزت عن منع أغلبية الأميركيين الذين سافروا للمشاركة فـي صراعات خارجية. غير أن الدراسة وجدت أنه لم تكن هناك مساعدة تذكر لتزويد المجتمعات المحلية بالقدرة على رصد إشارات التحذير. وانتقدت الدراسة حكومات أجنبية، وخصوصا بعض الحكومات الأوروبية، لعجزها عن اتخاذ إجراءات مثل فحص المسافرين لمعرفة ما إذا كانوا مدرجين على القوائم الإرهابية أو محاولة تحديد جوازات السفر المزورة.
