ديربورن - قال المرشح اللبناني الأميركي الشاب، لعضوية مجلس نواب الولاية، عن ديربورن، عبدالله حمود، إنه تلقى مؤخراً رسالة بريدية، من دون عنوان، مليئة برسائل الكراهية.
وتضمنت الرسالة نسخة ورقية ممزقة لبرنامج حمود الانتخابي وقد كتبت عليها عبارات عنصرية من قبيل «لا للعرب»، «إرجع الى لبنان»..
وكانت حملة حمود قد أرسلت آلاف النسخ من برنامجه الانتخابي الى عناوين سكان ديربورن الذين سيختارون ممثلهم الجديد فـي لانسنغ هذا الخريف خلفاً للنائب الحالي جورج ديراني.
وأعرب حمود (٢٥ عاماً) عن ثقته بأن محتوى هذه الرسالة العنصرية لا يمثل سكان ديربورن، ولكنها انعكاس لتصاعد الإسلاموفوبيا والصورة النمطية السلبية عن العرب والمسلمين، فـي ظل احتدام السباق الرئاسي.
وقد حمّل حمود، المرشح عن الحزب الديمقراطي، مسؤولية تنامي خطاب الكراهية للمرشحين الجمهوريين للرئاسة «الذين يهدفون من خلال تصعيدهم ضد العرب والمسلمين الى استقطاب الأصوات والأموال»، مؤكداً عزمه على مواصلة السباق الانتخابي على مقعد ديربورن فـي مجلس نواب ميشيغن (الدائرة 15). وأكد حمود الذي تقدم بشكوى الى الشرطة بشأن الرسالة أن «من حق كل أميركي أن يترشح لمنصب عام بغض النظر عن عرقه أو إثنيته أو دينه أو جنسه أو ميوله الجنسية» وأضاف «نعم أنا عربي، وأنا مسلم ولكنني أيضاً أميركي فخور ولطالما كنت اسمي مدينة ديربورن وطني».
