سان فرانسيسكو – يواجه وزير العدل الأميركي السابق جون أشكروفت احتمالات بالمقاضاة على خلفية اعتقالات جرت بعيد أحداث ١١ أيلول بدعوى إساءة معاملة المعتقلين من الشهود المحتملين. وذكرت صحيفة “يو أس أي توداي” أن محكمة استئناف فيدرالية أصدرت قرارا بمقاضاة أشكروفت في ظل اتهامة باحتجاز شهود إثبات محتملين في أحداث ١١ أيلول في أوضاع غير ملائمة. وأصدرت القرار محكمة استئناف يديرها تسعة قضاة في مدينة سان فرانسيسكو بولاية كاليفورنيا على إثر دعوى قضائية تقدم بها المواطن الأميركي والطالب سابقا في “جامعة إداهو” عبد الله الكد. وكان عبد الله الكد تقدم بالدعوى عام 2005 والتي يتهم فيها الحكومة الأميركية بانتهاك حقوقه المكتسبة بموجب القانون واحتجازه لمدة أسبوعين في قضية تتعلق “بالإرهاب”.
ويأتي قرار المحكمة بمقاضاة أشكروف واعتباره مسؤولا مسؤولية شخصية مباشرة عن انتهاك قانون شهود الإثبات المتبع في البلاد، والذي لا يسمح باحتجاز الأفراد كشهود لديهم معلومات إثبات في قضية معينة على ذمة التحقيق. وذكر عبد الله الكد الذي كان اعتنق الإسلام أنه ونتيجة لاعتقاله والتحقيق معه فقد بعثة دراسية كانت مقررة له للدراسة في المملكة العربية السعودية، كما فقد وظائف أخرى محتملة.
