آناربر – قالت دراسة نشرها معهد المواصلات في “جامعة ميشيغن” ان عدد حاملي رخص القيادة في اميركا المسنين شهد ارتفاعا في مقابل انخفاض عدد حاملي هذه الرخص من الشبان. فبينما كانت نسبة حاملي الرخص في سن 18 عاما تصل الى 80 بالمئة عام 1983 اصبحت 65 بالمئة عام 2008.
وقال احد المشرفين على الدراسة مايكل سافاك ان هناك سببين وراء هذا التوجه الاول هو ان “الشبان في عمر 18 عاماً وأوائل العشرينات ينزحون الى المدن الكبرى حيث تتوفر وسائل جيدة للنقل العام، ثم هناك “فيسبوك” و”تويتر”، والشبان هذه الايام يفضلون التواصل الالكتروني اكثر من التواصل الفعلي، وعليه لم تعد السياقة ضرورية كما كانت عليه سابقاً”.
وأكدت الدراسة ان المراهقين وكذلك المسنين بتسببون بمعدلات عالية من حوادث الطرق، مع الاشارة ان نسبة حاملي رخص القيادة من المسنين (70 عاماً أو أكثر) وصلت عام 1983 الى 25 بالمئة في مقابل 78 بالمئة عام 2008. وقال سافاك ان مشكلة قيادة المسنين هي في ضعف الرؤية ليلا وصعوبة التحرك داخل مقعد القيادة، مؤكداً ان شركات السيارات تطور تكنولوجيا لمراعاة هذه المصاعب، من بينها الانذار بوجود سيارة في “الزاوية الميتة” للمرايا، ورادار لخفض السرعة في حال الخطر، وطرق تواصل بين السائقين على الطريق.
