لندن – سعت إسرائيل إلى تعطيل ظهور رئيس المكتب السياسي لحركة حماس خالد مشعل، امام مجلس العموم البريطاني الأسبوع الماضي، لإلقاء كلمة مباشرة غير مسبوقة عبر الفيديو، وأعربت وزارة الخارجية الاسرائيلة عن ”غضبها واستيائها الشديدين” لعدم نجاح الضغوط لثني المجلس عن هذه الخطوة. وبحسب ”هآرتس” فقد تم الإعداد لإلقاء كلمة مشعل خلال لقاءات جمعت نواباً بريطانيين، أبرزهم النائبة كلير شورت، بقياديين من ”حماس” في دمشق وغزة، مشيرة إلى أن الحكومة البريطانية لم تجر اتصالات رسمية مع الحركة. وذكرت الصحيفة أن السفارة الإسرائيلية في لندن مارست ضغوطا على النواب لعدم السماح لمشعل بإلقاء كلمته، وجندت لهذا الغرض أعضاء ونوابا من الداعمين لإسرائيل للضغط على المسؤولين البريطانيين، لكن هذه الضغوط لم تفلح في إلغاء الكلمة. إلى ذلك، أعلنت بريطانيا أنها ستعيد النظر في صادراتها من الأسلحة إلى إسرائيل. وأبلغ وزير الخارجية البريطاني ديفيد ميليباند البرلمان بهذه الخطوة، التي قال أنها تأتي ”في ضوء الأحداث الأخيرة التي شهدتها غزة”، في إشارة إلى الحرب الإسرائيلية الأخيرة على القطاع.
